Update on Steve: November 30, 2023

Hi everyone,

We joined with all of you to give thanks last week for our many blessings, and now we’re looking ahead to the Christmas season. For our family, we’re also looking forward to Steve completing more chemotherapy treatments.

Steve had chemo treatment #3 on Tuesday, November 28. So far he’s feeling pretty well with no nausea. The fatigue will set in within the next 3-5 days. But he went on a walk today and his spirits are good.

He needs a blood transfusion because of low red blood count and high platelets. The transfusion will occur on Friday morning, December 1, and we would appreciate prayers for its success.

Janice took a serious fall in the middle of the night while getting supplies for Steve to help a low blood sugar number. She required 14 stitches in the ER and will undergo oral surgery and an implant procedure on Tuesday, December 5. We didn’t need this calamity right now!

On Wednesday, December 6, Steve will have a PET/CT scan to determine if the chemo is shrinking the tumors. We would appreciate all your healing thoughts and prayers.

We’re so grateful to our sons Justin and Ryan and their families for being with us over Thanksgiving, and they will also join us at Christmas. To those of you who have supplied meals and other support, we literally couldn’t keep going without you and your loving ways! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Prayer points:

  1. Grace & peace for Steve this week as his body fights the cancer.

  2. Wisdom for blood sugar stabilization in the day & night.

  3. A good report from the PET scan, Dec 6th! Please pray for a significant decrease in size of the tumors…

  4. Pain relief for Janice as she undergoes surgery and receives a new tooth.
